I don't post much on the blog because, well... I've nothing to say, I guess. I read other blogs and see all that is going on and I just can't compete. We're boring here at the Webb house.
There are no Christmas pictures, not that there were many to begin with... I think four. Gaby accidentally deleted them off the camera. It was just pics of the kids coming down the stairs. Webb tradition and all. :)
My New Year's Resolution last year was to lose 25 lbs and read 52 books (one book a week). Well, for obvious reasons, I was unable to read that much, but I think I did rather well in losing 14 lbs and reading 35 books. This year my resolution remains the same and so far I am over my book a week goal. Yay me! I may do a blog post about the books I found great last year and what I am reading this year.
Ken's birthday was fun. We bought him two camping chairs, a Red Cross light/radio/cell phone charger. We went to Red Lobster for dinner and all of us were so tired we basically slept through the meal and just went home. Poor Ken.
We've had more than our fair share of snow this year. Two feet followed by ice storms and then more and more inches. I don't really keep track of the stuff. I do know we have two feet coming in tomorrow and then more next week. I'm thinking of moving.
I have been spending far too much time hiding in bed and not having the ability to get up and face the day. To battle this depression I decided to do service. I've been making meals for families in need and with Gaby, we've been delivering them and other treats, as well as snowing driveways or delivering gifts. It lifts my spirits to help others out, especially at a time when many people are losing thier jobs. I don't have much to give, but I'll give what I've got. The Lord says to lose yourself in Service, so I'm trying to take him up on that challenge. Still.... I spent most of this week hiding under the covers crying. How pathetic! You would think one would eventually run dry of tears.
We are truly blessed to have a wonderful house to live in, cars that are paid for, several months of food storage to rely on (and we do!), games to entertain us, friends to laugh and cry with, a true religion to learn from, and an eternal family to cling to.
I've been going to the temple quite a bit to do work and once even to clean! If you haven't cleaned the temple before, I urge you to volunteer next time. It is a great experience. I have had so many marvelous temple experiences in the last year. I cannot write about them here, but they are experiences I will never forget and have helped me a lot in growing as a Latter-Day Saint in tumultuous times.
The kids are doing well. Alec's Eagle Scout project is being nominated on the national level for something or other that the BSA is doing to promote scouting in the nation. As I learn more, we'll keep you posted. He finished everything for his Eagle and is now in the final interview process. Can't wait till we can do a court of honor and be done! Neither can he.
My 93 year old granddad is living out here now. I spend quite a bit of time taking him places and doing odds and ends for him. I am so blessed to still have him in my life. I enjoy being with him and hearing his stories of the 1930s.
Well, that is the Webb news. Not a lot, but thought I should post something since it's been over a month. Happy New Year! God Bless!
